Privacy Policy
GotThat! exists so neighbors can share more and buy less. That only works if you can trust us with your info, so here's exactly what we collect, what we do with it, and what we will never do with it. No legalese, no fine-print games.
Effective date: July 21, 2026
Our promises
These aren't aspirations. They're how GotThat! is built:
- Your data belongs to you. Full stop.
- We will never sell or share your personal data. Not with advertisers, not with brokers, not with anyone.
- Defaults are opt-in, not opt-out. If something's optional, it starts turned off until you turn it on.
- When you delete something, it's gone. Deleted means deleted, not "hidden until further notice."
- We make money from features worth paying for, never from monetizing your information.
- Moderation keeps GotThat! safe from illegal activity. It is not there to watch what you do.
What we collect
Only what the app needs to work:
- Account basics. Your name, your email, and a password. Profile extras like a photo, birthday, or home city are optional and only there if you add them.
- The things you share. Names, photos, descriptions, and details of the items you put into your communities.
- Borrowing and lending activity. Requests, approvals, pickups, and returns, so you and your neighbors can keep track of who has what.
- Community membership. Which communities you belong to and your role in them.
- Locations you enter. If you add a home city or a pickup spot, we store it. It stays with us and your communities.
- Push notifications. If you turn them on, we store what's needed to send them. Off by default.
- The technical basics. A cookie that keeps you signed in, and basic server logs that help us fix problems.
What we don't collect
No analytics, no trackers, no ad-tech, no third-party cookies. The only cookies GotThat! sets are the ones that keep you signed in and keep the app working. If we ever add measurement of any kind, it will be described here first and it will be opt-in.
How we use it
To run the app. That's the whole list. We show your things to the communities you share them with, move borrows along, and send the notifications you've asked for. There is no secondary use and no profiling.
Who can see your stuff
Communities are private and invite-only by design. The things you share are visible only to members of the communities you share them into. There are no public profiles and nothing about you is published to the open web or search engines.
How long we keep it
As long as you're using GotThat!, and no longer. Delete an item or a photo and it's removed from our storage. Leave a community and its members no longer see your things. Want your whole account gone? Email us at [email protected] and we'll delete it. The same "deleted means deleted" promise applies. The one exception is a small set of safety records that keep the platform secure; they're used for nothing else.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the update lands on this page with a fresh effective date, and meaningful changes get a heads-up inside the app. We'll never weaken the promises above quietly.
